Ryan Croteau: Founder of Hobe Sound Surf Camp

I’m thrilled to announce the launch of the first surf camp in Hobe Sound, Florida! My name is Ryan Croteau, and I was born and raised right here in this beautiful community. I attended Hobe Sound Elementary, where I created countless memories and fell in love with surfing at the local beaches.

I started surfing at the age of 7 and was hooked from day one. By 10, I began competing locally and won my first surf competition, igniting my passion for the sport. As my skills grew, I took my surfing journey across the nation, competing as an amateur before turning pro at 16. This path led me to California, where I pursued my dream alongside my brother, Justin.

After years on the pro junior tour and the WSL World Qualifying Series touring the globe, I discovered a new passion: teaching. I started a surf school in California, where I had the privilege of sharing my love for surfing with thousands of students, many of whom continue to ride waves to this day.

Yet, after years in California, my heart yearned to return home to Florida. Inspired to give back to my community, the community that gave so much to me. I created Florida Surf Experience and Hobe Sound Surf Camp with the goal set to inspire the next generation and create a fun, informative experience for young surfers, so that one day, we’ll see more surfers from Hobe Sound competing on the world stage.

I’m dedicated to building this dream from the ground up and can’t wait to mentor aspiring surfers in my hometown. Nothing would make me happier than to see a kid with a dream follow in my footsteps and put Hobe Sound on the international surf map. Join me in this exciting journey!
